' Longwood ' (2008) Colored Pencil on Board $175.00
Longwood Gardens and its mid summer vegetation along the numerous brick walkways of the vast acreage confines in Kennett Square, Pennyslvania- (a far distant western suburb outside of Philadelphia.) Several trips with my dear paternal grandparents were taken here to this must see spectacular piece of land, just north of the Mason Dixon Line. The hue green and variations of the color rank # 2 on my list of favorites in the palette next to blue. Continuous exploration of careful modeling takes place in terms of surface application-(as always) with that warm June afternoon sunlight falling upon the leaves.

Aquariums and zoological garden day trips have always been of strong interest to me in that I adore both land and ocean mammals & vertebrates. I find fish striking to the eye with all of their colors, textures, and patterns from all of the worlds bodies of water, but most interestingly the fish indigenous to the subtropical warm waters of the planet- ( The Caribbean, South Pacific, and coastal China & Japan ) Scales and skin of these creatures are absolutely extraordinary displaying a rich surface that has propelled me to transfer an image of them on to the picture plane.
' Montauk- The End of Long Island '
Another fantastic source for me in terms of vibrant color, texture, and surface is in the frog and the opportunity to employ green again in my work. It is apparent where the more that one looks at my designs, you see ' fragmented or faceted ' areas of color, whether it be in a realistic subject matter or abstract creations. *Colors transition suddenly from one shade to completely different hues within the living subject here. ( In this case, orange directly adjacent to brown and light green up against dark green, even though it has a subtle gradation throughout the piece. That subtle gradation is the style in which I practice in virtually all of my work, with the exception of a few renderings where I make use of flat filled color applied to objects drawn.
