Top of the Tower, Hotel Carlyle in Upper Manhattan
(2011) Colored Pencil & Collage on Board  $ 525.00

New York's Carlyle Hotel and its upper floors of the tower, standing in its grandeur on the upper east side located at East 76th Street & Madison Avenue. I have always been in awe of ' old looking New York City ' especially in black & white Hollywood films of the 40's and 50's, old urban photography of Manhattan, and reading about the fine artisans and craftsman that built the world's greatest city over time. In this piece, I continue to employ my constant use of pattern building up a richness of mainly grey tonal values with accents of color (which the building actually is of these colors) *What attracts me to this particular structure, is not only its architectural European style-(just one of thousands in the Big Apple), but the large to medium sized slabs of granite and limestone that cover the buildings surface shell. That, and the hints of green and aquamarine tints which add decorative effect.
